How to get the perfect red lip

Today I wanted to share how I find it easiest to achieve the perfect red lip! It is easy for the beginner and I assure you it will stay on all day and night long. I think a red lip is the best accessory. Perfect with a simple tee or to turn a look into full glamour. Have a go at following my steps below and let me know your thoughts!

STEP 1

Step 1

Do the base of your makeup first. Keep it simple. A bold lip doesn’t need anything too strong elsewhere!

STEP 2

Step 2

Lip liner is a must. I’m using the Bare Minerals Marvellous MOXIE. You can grab it here.

STEP 3

Step 3

Out line the bottom of the lip. If you over draw the bottom don’t worry too much. We will cover it up in the end.

STEP 4

Step 4

The next thing to do is draw a cross in the middle of your top lip. This will set you up for an even outline and really gives you some shape.

STEP 5

Step 5

Colour in the rest of your lip with the lip liner. I find this a really important step with darker colours. If the lipstick shifts you will still have the opaque colour as a base, much better than skin colour gaps.

STEP 6

Step 7

Here I’m using the Sephora long lasting lip colour. You can get it here. I like this one as it has a brush which makes it really easy to apply. For me, the brighter the red the better. But, you can choose whatever shade of red suits you.

STEP 7

Step 10 b

Time to paint and colour in.

STEP 8

Step 10 a

This step is the most important. Get some tissue and press it between your lips. This will get rid of any excess colour that has the potential to end up on your teeth!

STEP 9

Step 8

Now paint again…

STEP 10

Step 11

Next take a concealer. I am using the NATIO Camouflage Tinted Spot Cream. You can get it here.

STEP 11

Step 12

Dab some of the product onto the back of your hand.

STEP 12

Step 13

Now with a flat edge brush, take some concealer. Apply it around the edge of your mouth  to clean up all edges. This will stop the colour from bleeding.

ENJOY!
